Chicken-less Orange “Chicken”

My sister and i LOVE Trader Joe’s. This is a topic that I can promise will come up frequently throughout the future of our blog. In our opinion, there are some items from Trader Joe’s that just can not be topped. One of these items that shines above the rest is the Trader Joe’s Chicken-Less Mandarin Orange Morsels. This is the starring role of one of our favorite family dinners which I will introduce to you today.

There are a lot of reasons as to why this dinner is a family favorite. The recipe requires very few ingredients, minimal prep time, and is fairly healthy while still being absolutely delicious.

For a family of four, you’ll need:

2 cups cooked rice of your choice (we use brown)

2 bags of Trader Joe’s Chicken-Less Mandarin Orange Morsels

2 cups broccoli

4 TBSP oil

To start, cut broccoli into small florets and steam for around 20 minutes, or until broccoli is tender when touched with a fork. Meanwhile, cook rice of your choice according to directions.

Now, for the main ingredient, the “chicken”! Heat 4 tbsp oil in a pan on medium high. Next, add chicken in flat layer and cook 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through. Take chicken out of pan and place on paper towel to soak up excess grease. Dump the extra oil out of your pan.

Finally, add the “chicken” and broccoli back into pan and pour in sauce from the sauce packet included in the bag. Stir ingredients until everything is well-coated in the sauce. Serve over rice and enjoy!

I hope you check out this item the next time you find yourself in a Trader Joe’s. And *when* you do, I hope you enjoy it just as much as we do!

Have a great week,
